Memory doesn't move in straight lines. It drifts — rising without warning, disappearing before you can hold it, surfacing again when you least expect it.

Where Koi Remember places the koi inside that current. They move through deep cobalt and teal like living fragments of the past — not lost, exactly, but not fixed either. Each fish carries its own weight of color and motion, threading through layers of texture that built up slowly, the way memory does.

This is a painting about what we carry without realizing it. About the things that swim just below the surface of our days, patient and persistent, waiting to be remembered.

About the Artist
Rita Irvin is a self-taught mixed-media artist born and raised in West Berlin, Germany. Her work explores memory, emotion, and transformation through layered textures, surreal symbolism, and dreamlike imagery. Influenced by Dalí, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe, Rita developed her own visual language without formal training — shaped by years in interior design and a lifelong immersion in art and architecture. Each print is a signed, numbered limited edition — a faithful reproduction of an original work, printed on archival fine art paper.
