Soul Ablaze — Original Acrylic on Canvas | Rita Irvin
Some things can't be screamed loud enough.
Soul Ablaze is a raw, close-cropped portrait of a face caught mid-cry — eyes wide, mouth open, color erupting around the features in streaks of crimson, gold, and slate. The framing is intimate and unflinching, pulling the viewer in until the face fills the entire canvas. There's nowhere to look but straight into it.
Built up in loose, expressive strokes of acrylic, the piece sits at the edge between portrait and abstraction — features dissolve into color and color resolves back into features. It's a painting about release: the moment feeling becomes too big to contain and simply has to come out.
